This comprehensive course will improve your confidence and value so you can take charge of administrative responsibilities and protect providers from risk. The curriculum prepares current and aspiring medical office managers to lead the team and pass the Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM)® certification exam.
This course includes detailed information on all areas involved in medical practice administration: practice financial management, employment laws, revenue cycle management, staffing and administration, plus newly updated information on risk sharing, the patient experience, updated payment models and quality reporting. Receive expert guidance on issues such as emergency preparedness, workplace violence, sexual harassment, discrimination, cyberthreats, and the opioid crisis, and more. Prerequisites: Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience working in a medical practice. Take the free Medical Office Management Assessment to test your knowledge.
Format: Participate remotely with access to live instructor-led sessions (current schedule posted on this page). Live attendance is encouraged but not required. Enrolled students will have access to recorded lectures and instructor support for 6 months following the course conclusion.
Additional Information: Course includes a series of seven 3-hour live instructor-led webinar sessions plus unlimited online streaming of the recorded sessions, digital course materials accessible for 6 months following the course conclusion, ongoing faculty support and optional participation in bonus live instructor-led group study sessions. The proctored online certification exam is also included if testing within 12 months of course start date. An optional physical course manual is available upon request at no additional cost. Live class sessions meet on Wednesdays at 3 pm Eastern / 2 pm Central / 1 pm Mountain / 12 noon Pacific. Ongoing student support is provided via email. Phone appointments are available upon request.

Exam Info: This course includes a three-hour, proctored, 100 question online certification exam. Earning CMOM certification requires a passing score of 70 percent or better. If a passing grade is not achieved on the first attempt, you may re-test for an additional fee.
About the Presenter
Kem Tolliver CMOM, CPC, FACMPE
Kem is the CEO of Medical Revenue Cycle Specialists (MRCS) and a national Revenue Cycle, Coding, Practice Management and Technology Optimization expert. She is the author of "Revenue Cycle Management: Don't Get Lost in the Financial Maze" and "Advanced Strategy for Medical Practice Leaders: Financial Management Edition" as well as the co-host of, "RevDive with Taya & Kem" podcast.
With a desire to improve healthcare workforce education, Kem is a Practice Management Institute (PMI) faculty member and serves on the Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM) Certification Committee. She instructs the "Revenue Cycle Management 101" course under a collaboration with Howard University and the University of the District of Columbia.
Mrs. Tolliver holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Healthcare Administration (Summa Cum Laude) and Organizational Management (Magna Cum Laude). Her certifications include Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE).
For over 25 years Kem has provided strategic and operational leadership to medical practices, health systems and technology innovators. Practices managed by Kem have received MGMA® "Better Performing Practice" distinctions in the areas of Accounts Receivable and Collections.
