Samantha has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She has been the President of the Abilene Chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders as well as serving as a Member Development Officer. She served as the Region 3 Representative for the American Academy of Professional Coders from 2021-2022 where she served on the Chapter Development Committee.
In her current role located out of Hendrick Clinic, in Abilene, Texas, she serves as the Compliance Coordinator. She provides Coding training to new onboarding physicians and mid-levels as well as completes annual training and audits. She provides training to the clinical staff as requested and works on requested audits.
Prior to her current role, she gained first-hand knowledge of managing patient health information necessary to provide quality patient care while supporting the confidentiality of patient records. This experience includes coding, billing, front office, management, insurance, auditing, compliance, claims processing, claim adjustments, coordination of benefits, and teaching across multi-specialty groups.
Samantha studied Criminal Justice at Cisco Jr. College in 2004. In April 2010, she earned certification as a Medical Coding and Billing Specialist from U.S. Career Institute. She has also earned both the CMC and CMCO certifications through PMI, and received training as a Coding Instructor through the American Academy of Professional Coders.
