Yolanda is an Instructor, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist. She teaches in the Medical Billing and Coding Certification program at UTSA. Her teaching experience began at the Alamo Colleges District Northwest Vista campus in 2017. It continued with the Integrated Basic Education Skills Training (IBEST) program, where she successfully maintained an above-average student pass rate for the certification program and assisted in the student’s advancement in the healthcare industry.
Yolanda's current position is working for the Department of Defense as a Medical Coding Compliance Specialist. With over 30 years of experience in the greater San Antonio metropolitan area healthcare industry, she has extensive knowledge in medical coding, healthcare compliance, risk analysis, health systems implementation, clinical documentation, and revenue cycle performance. She previously held key positions in Medical Business Management for sixteen years, where she recruited and trained all medical insurance reimbursement staff.
Notable achievements include being recognized as a Cum Laude graduate from Concordia University at Austin and membership in the Delta Mu Delta - Theta Gamma Chapter, an International Honor Society through the University of the Incarnate Word.
