Margo is a Certified Professional Medical Auditor, and clinical documentation specialist, with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare management, billing, and coding. She works for the University of Texas Health RGV and uses her extensive knowledge to help all types of healthcare practices improve the revenue cycle.
Prior to transitioning to her role as a medical auditor, she worked with clinical documentation to code and bill cardiology, cardiothoracic, and vascular procedures for a large cardiology group. The cardiology coding team worked closely with the revenue cycle team to achieve 95 percent claim accuracy for payer reimbursement.
Margo also provides initial and continuation education/training to all UT Health RGV coders, onboarding providers, and first-year GME residents. Training consists of evaluation and management (E/M) and procedure documentation per current CMS/AMA guidelines.
Margo holds certifications with PMI: Certified Medical Coder (CMC), and Certified Medical Chart Auditor-E/M (CMCA-E/M), and the American Academy of Professional Coders: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC), and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).
