Improve your depth of knowledge and confidence when coding outpatient medical claims. This curriculum includes advanced-level training to prepare current and aspiring medical coders to pass the Certified Medical Coder (CMC)® certification exam.
The instructor will teach participants current coding guidelines for proper coding of outpatient medical claims. This training will help coding professionals communicate more confidently with providers, payers, patients, and business associates, and help to ensure proper claim submission and accurate payment for services rendered. Format: Participate remotely with access to a series of live instructor-led webinar sessions (current schedule posted on this page). Live attendance is encouraged but not required. Participants are encouraged to turn on their webcams and fully engage with the instructor and their peers in this highly interactive program. Enrolled students can access recorded lectures and instructor support for 6 months following the course conclusion.
Resources: A course manual is included and will be shipped to your address. Self-supplied code set manuals and a medical dictionary are needed throughout the course and on the exam day. Registration includes ongoing faculty support and optional participation in bonus live instructor-led group study sessions.
Exam Info: This course includes a timed, six-hour proctored certification exam scheduled by PMI's Exam Coordinator in a testing center near the candidate's location. A score of 70% or better is required to earn the CMC certification. If a passing grade is not achieved on the first attempt, candidates may re-test for an additional fee.
